President Trump suggested Thursday that Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s recently animated TV appearance to promote New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was because the Massachusetts Democrat was on drugs.
“I watched her the other night. She’s all hopped up endorsing a communist in New York City, and she was all excited and jumping up and down,” Mr. Trump said in remarks from the Oval Office. “She’s got to take a drug test. She really does.”
He added, “There’s no way somebody can act that way and be normal.”
Ms. Warren has positioned herself as a full-fledged supporter of Mr. Mamdani, defending his calls to raise taxes during a combative interview on CNBC.
“Oh dear, are you worried that billionaires are going to go hungry?” the senator said in the interview.
Mr. Trump has taken aim at Ms. Warren in recent days. After her CNBC appearance, he attacked her in real time and on social media.
He called her a “loser” and insisted that CNBC hadn’t posed “a real question” to her.
On Thursday, Mr. Trump continued his assault, blasting her claim to have American Indian heritage. A DNA test released by Ms. Warren in 2018 revealed she had a tiny amount of Indian DNA from six to 10 generations ago. She subsequently apologized to the Cherokee Nation.
“She lied her whole career based on the fact that she was an Indian. She was able to get into certain colleges, get certain jobs, get into certain universities,” Mr. Trump said. “She’s a liar and a nut job.”
