The person behind the LAScanner account that “doxxed” ICE activities in Los Angeles has deactivated the account after saying that he was doxxed himself.
In a “formal apology” the account operator said he was sorry for putting people at risk, then begged for his own family to be left alone, saying they “do not deserve to be dragged into this.”
“I should not have posted the locations of ICE raids, and I will no longer do so,” the account said. “I’ve contacted the authorities to take responsibility, and they are currently reviewing my account to determine if any laws were broken.
“If it’s found that I have violated the law, I will cooperate fully and turn myself in.”
Online sleuths said the account belonged to Jack Quillin.
One account then posted a criminal history of a Jack Quillin who had a felony conviction for stalking.
That account, InsiderWire, then posted what it said was a response from Jack Quillin that said: “Remove that post about me immediately.”
ICE officers have had their information posted online, leading to threats.
