Rep. Jasmine Crockett has slammed President Trump for being afraid of “smart, bold Black women” after he said in an interview that she wasn’t intelligent.

“For you to be in charge of the WHOLE country, you sure do have my name in your mouth a lot,” Ms. Crockett, Texas Democrat, wrote in a social media post Sunday directed at Mr. Trump. “Every time you say my name, you’re reminding the world that you’re terrified of smart, bold Black women telling the truth and holding you accountable. So keep talking …”

Her post came after Mr. Trump, in an NBC News “Meet the Press” interview that aired Sunday, said the Democrats are in “total disarray.”

“They have a new person named Crockett. I watched her speak the other day and she’s definitely a low I.Q. person,” he said. “And they said she’s the future of the party. I said, ‘You have to be kidding.’ I don’t know what they’re going to do.”

Ms. Crockett is no stranger to her remarks going viral and has been criticized for some.

Earlier this year, she called Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican who is a wheelchair user, “Governor Hot Wheels.”

She defended herself on social media after, saying the comment wasn’t in regards to his condition but was about the “planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable.”

“Literally, the next line I said was that he was a ’Hot A— Mess,’ referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition,” she said. “So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump — a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities — are now outraged.”

She also referred to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia Republican, as a “bleach blonde bad built butch body” during a contentious House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing last May.

Mr. Trump and Ms. Crockett have gone at each other before.

He bashed the lawmaker back in March when he called her a “lowlife and … a very low-IQ person.”

In September, she called Mr. Trump a “simple-minded [and] underqualified” person during a House Oversight Committee meeting hearing.
