David Hogg is warning Democrats in Congress that they will face primary challenges if they support military strikes against Iran.
Fresh off his short-lived stint as DNC co-chair, Mr. Hogg, an anti-gun activist, said Democrats must be united against military action.
“Any Democrat who supports this war with Iran needs to be primaried,” he posted on X. “Our generation grew up going through two multi trillion dollar wars we should have never been involved in.”
He added, “We are not [expletive] going back to that. If you think this is a good idea read a history book.”
Mr. Hogg is aligned with some unlikely bedfellows, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a die-hard Trump supporter who has clashed with the activist over gun rights, and conservative commentators Tucker Carlson and Steve Bannon.
“Where are all the ‘we can’t afford it’ politicians now that we’re on the brink of what could be another multi trillion dollar war?” Mr. Hogg wrote in another post.
Mr. Hogg was elected this year as a co-chair of the Democratic National Committee.
But he faced stiff criticism after promising that the Leaders We Deserve PAC that he co-founded would spend upward of $20 million on primary challenges against Democrats in safe congressional districts who his group considers “asleep at the wheel.”
Mr. Hogg’s rocky tenure as DNC co-chair ended this month after members voted to redo the co-chair elections due to concerns that the earlier contest violated the party’s gender equity rules.
Mr. Hogg decided not to seek reelection.
