President Trump dined in his newly renovated Rose Garden at the White House with his allies in Congress in what they’re calling the Rose Garden Club.
Mr. Trump told his dinner guests that the club is for “senators, for Congress people and for people in Washington and frankly people that can bring peace and success in our country.”
Several lawmakers took to social media to post pictures of the Friday evening. The meal appeared to include a Rose Garden salad, choices of a New York strip steak, thyme-roasted chicken and a summer pasta primavera, with a seven-layer cake for dessert.
“The grand opening of the new Rose Garden Club at the White House last night was epic,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, Louisiana Republican, wrote. “Thanks to @realDonaldTrump for his hospitality & visionary leadership.”
Rep. Richard Hudson, North Carolina Republican, said he was honored to be invited to the dinner and said he shared a table with Vice President J.D. Vance and Sens. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee and Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma.
“It was great to spend some time with @POTUS in the Oval Office. He showed me some of the beautiful renovations he’s made to the Cabinet room,” Mr. Hudson wrote.
Rep. Julie Fedorchak, North Dakota Republican, said she dined with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and spent time talking with Mr. Vance and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Rep. Beth Van Duyne, Texas Republican, lauded her time at the dinner.
“It was a beautiful evening and a great reminder that we’re not tired of winning for the American people! I look forward to building on this momentum as we work to lower costs, increase take-home pay, expand job growth and further limit the federal government,” she wrote.
Sen. James Lankford, Oklahoma Republican, said he was honored to offer a prayer for the nation and called it a “special night.”
The event came after the president hosted tech leaders at the White House on Thursday for a dinner that was supposed to be in the Rose Garden but got rained out.
Mr. Trump gave the Rose Garden a new look, paving over what used to be a grassy lawn and setting up tables and chairs with yellow striped umbrellas.
“The Rose Garden Club at the White House is the hottest place to be in Washington, or perhaps the world. The president looks forward to welcoming top business, political, and tech leaders for this dinner and the many dinners to come on the new, beautiful Rose Garden patio,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle said.
